SNA-WI Executive Board Plan of Action – Cheryl Peil – 2010-2011
Each
Executive Board member will
- be responsible for the tasks and duties
as outlined by position in the SNA-WI Bylaws and Policy & Procedure manual.
- greet members when ever possible at
general sessions of SNA-WI conferences.
- write an article for each issue of the Newsletter and submit it
electronically to SAMI for publishing by the due date.
To carry on
the work of the association, each Board member is assigned additional tasks as
defined below:
| President

|
Attend state association sponsored activities and Chapter meetings as
requested.

| Communicate with SNA-WI Members, through mass e-mail and through
Chapter President Representative.
|
| Promote and recruit nominations for Future Leader, with input from the
Executive Board members.
|
| Evaluate with the Board, Executive Management responsibilities and
hours utilized.
|
| Read the SNA-WI Mission and Vision statement at every event.
|
| Monitor Chapter Relations Ad Hoc Committee.
|
| Review the management company yearly/Select a team of three to do the
review.
|
| President Elect
April Hershfield-Johnson, SNS
|
Maintain up-to-date Bylaws, calling for House of Delegates discussion
and vote as needed.
|
| Oversee Nominating Committee, help promote at least two people for
each open position
|
| Monitor Executive Management hours per contract and serve as clearing
house for approving additional hours.
|
| Organize a mega discussion at the House of Delegates.

|
| Recruit at least two people for each position open on the SNA-WI
Executive Board. Oversee voting at the Annual State Conference.

| Assist with promoting Future Leader Program.

Continue promoting to non-member industry representatives the value of
industry/Sustaining Membership with SNA-WI.

| Develop a future leader summit for future conferences

| Maintain up-to-date Policy and Procedure Manual and continue to cross
reference with Bylaws.

| Promote and assist in executing the Gold/Silver/Bronze levels of Sustaining
Membership.
|
| Ensure information on Sustaining Members page of SNA-WI website is
accurate and updated as necessary throughout the year.

| Actively recruit candidates for openings on Industry Advisory
Committee and industry openings on other committees.

Provide information to Chapter Treasurers on recordkeeping and
generating reports for Chapter President to demonstrate fiscal responsibility
of Chapter funds. This could be done at a breakout at State Conference.

| Provide a learning session for chapters on “How to generate income for
the chapter.”

| Assist Chapter President Representative to support Chapters as needed.
|
| Monitor Executive Management hours per contract and provide a summary
to the Executive Board for review.

| Consider fewer repeat sessions and promote a sense of member belonging
during the Annual state Conference,

Maintain Chapter President page on SNA-WI website to include, Chapter
meeting, dates, location, and topics, fund raising ideas, speaker topic list,
etc.

| Maintain an e-mail list with all Chapter Presidents and update as
needed.

| Serve as Chair to the Chapter Relations Ad-Hoc Committee and report
progress at each Board meeting.

| Serve the Board Liaison for the Chapters, to bring any concerns to the
Board.

| Contact Chapter Presidents as needed to communicate any pertinent
information, and to remind them of deadlines for the Newsletter.

| Assist with Chapter Leadership Retreat.

| Organize the Chapter Sharing Rally at Annual State Conference.

Certification Chair

Gain a comprehensive understanding of the complete certification and
credentialing programs to provide adequate guidance to interested
members.

| Conduct breakout session on Certification at Annual State Conference.

| Prepare a way for communicating on “how to become certified.”

DPI State Director

Serve as liaison between Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction
and SNA-WI, providing information that impacts nutrition services to
Wisconsin’s children.

| Provide, when requested, statistical data that may affect actions
taken by SNA-WI committees such as but not limited to legislative, strategic
planning, education, etc.
|
| Attend and present DPI updates at Fall, Spring, and Annual State
Conference.
|
| Present at the State Conference a session on “how to use the DPI
efficiently.”

Education
Committee Chair
Diane Agrell

Plan Spring Conference geared towards future leaders and Director and
Supervisor attendees.
|
| Work with the Chapter Relations Ad Hoc Committee concentrate on what
training Chapters want, by geographic location.
|
| Continue research into webinars and other zero-to-low cost training
options.
|
| Assemble frequently asked questions on available educational
opportunities through SNA-WI, SNA and other affiliated organizations.
|
| Help promote joint breakfast conferences.
|
Legislative and Public Policy
Committee Chair
Renee Slotten-Beauchamp, RD, CD
|
Continue steps to encourage state legislature to appropriate enough
funds in budget to cover School Nutrition Programs.
|
| Encourage committee members and Chapter Leaders to present legislative
updates at Chapter meetings.
|
| Educate and work with SNA-WI contracted Lobbyist on needs of the
association and its’ members.
|
| Present Legislative update at Fall, Spring and Annual State
Conferences.
|
| Review and update issue paper as necessary.
|
| Conduct Annual Legislative event at the State Capital.
|
| Continue to invite Senators and Legislators to State Conference.
|
| Conduct a breakout session on Legislative issues at the State and
National level at Annual State Conference.

| Work with the Chapter Relations Ad Hoc Committee concentrate on
policies and regulation.

| Assemble frequently asked questions on common legislative questions
that members, Chapters and the general public ask regarding school nutrition
legislation.

| Form a team to evaluate our contracted lobbyist.

Evaluate purpose and function of subcommittees and activate if
appropriate.

| Plan Fall Conference geared toward Director and Supervisor Attendees.

| Promote Awards to get at least one entry for every category. Develop a
motivational and simple format that can be shared with Chapters to encourage
their entries.

| Maintain an incentive program to reward the person who nominates
members for awards.
|
| Design a recognition program for those Chapters who increased
membership by 3% in the 2010-11 school year highlighting the one who had the
highest percentage increase.

| Assemble frequently asked questions on membership benefits.

| Work with the Chapter Relations Ad Hoc Committee concentrating on
helping Chapters recruit and retain members.

| Explore a chapter busing program for one day visit to our State Annual
Conference.

packaging resources for the optimal benefit of Chapter Leaders.

office promptly. (These will be posted to web site and printed in newsletter.)

| Develop and conduct a membership drive either during SNA Fall
membership or Spring membership drives. Increase you chapter membership by
3%. (i.e.: 225 member Chapters would
need 8 new members, 30 member Chapters would need 2)

| Become or appoint a member to the Chapter Relations Ad Hoc Committee.
